This time I would like to share with you my experience with makeup products from Elf Cosmetics. This brand offers a wide range of products of a pretty good quality for the lowest prices on the market. It is hard to bit that. A mascara or a foundation can be purchased at around 6$. Eye pencils, shadows and other things are even cheaper. The name of the brand is defined as Eyes Lips Face and is a cruelty-free brand that is very much loved in the vegetarian/vegan community.
Before this moment, I didn’t realize I had an entire “collection” already. It turns out I bought several of their synthetic brushes. I have the eyeshadow C brush and the foundation brush from the professional line. I have read the reviews and comparisons of these products to other similar, or more expensive brands. Everybody really loves them. The brush makes the application of the shadow or foundation easy, creating an even distribution. It is very easy to use and maintain. The synthetic brushes definitely win over the natural hair ones. Synthetic hair resists much better in time than the natural one. Don’t forget to wash your brush once in a while, to avoid causing infection to your skin. I bought one brush from Dollarama for about 3$ and the other one was ordered from Iherb. You can use this link here.
Elf cosmetics also has a range of mascaras. I’ve always wanted to have a natural mascara that contains no chemicals. The one that I got was ELF Mineral Volumizing Mascara for 5$ only. This product contains no parabens, preservatives or any other chemicals. It is made of 100% natural minerals with cocoa butter, shea butter, vitamin B5 and E, oat and wheat protein, but also green tea to strengthen the lashes. It is a good product in my opinion, it gives a good volume to my lashes, however, it can easily get messy if the weather is windy or rainy. To trust it, you should apply and wear it inside only or when the weather is perfect outside. Otherwise you can risk getting the mascara all over your face, unfortunately. It is not the best product, but it works fine under certain conditions and it is very cheap. If you still hesitate, try the waterproof version for 3$ only.
Another product that I bought from IHerb was ELF Flawless Finish Foundation for 6$ only. It comes in 6 different shades. Unfortunately, I chose the shade “buffer”, which is too dark for me. However, if I have my self-tanner on or if I apply a thin layer only, it blends pretty well. What I mostly like about it, is that it covers the pores very well, giving you a healthy glow. I really like this effect. It also works fine with my oily skin and resists well for 6 hours. If you feel like your skin is a bit too shinny, simple give it a touch with a mineral powder. I would definitely recommend this product, just make sure you choose the adequate color for your skin tone.
The other thing that I have from Elf is the Makeup Mix & Set with Aloe, Green Tea, Cucumber and vitamins for 3$. This is basically some kind of water with aloe, green tea and vitamins that helps you set the makeup in order to make it more resistant during the day. Similar products from other brands are really expensive. I’m not sure whether it is the effect of the foundation or its combination with this Mist, but it definitely resists longer that my usual makeup. I haven’t tested it that long yet, so I’m not sure how it would work with other brands. I like it so far.
Generally speaking, I bought all these products just to test, because they were all very cheap and affordable. I didn’t expect them to work that fine on my skin. The foundation is definitely my favorite for the moment. I will probably use this darker shade for my legs and I’ll purchase the lighter one for my face, because it is only 6$.
Let me know in your comments what other ELF products did you use. What would you recommend.
